CWC staff retreat 2024
The 2024 staff retreat title “Recalibration: Going Back to the Basics” was another successful outing and a sign of great things to come.

The event was graced by Mrs. Jemima Jatau-Kyari, alumni of the famous Harvard University who was called upon to give a 45 minutes’ lecture which centres on the theme.
Below is an excerpt from the lecture.
“Recalibration is about introspection and visualization. Introspection means think, reflect and talk to yourself while visualization is simply learning new skills and pointing out what you desire to be on clear terms and monitoring your progress.” She said
She went further to explain that staff need to visualize their attitude towards the core values; Integrity, honesty respect, comfort, safety and cleanliness, and gratitude. A serious staff must understand what this core values really mean to each of us working in the organization before this visualizing process must be successful.
The staff of CWC present were able to express their perspective of what the core values, honesty, meant to them:
The resource person emphasized that the behaviour of a staff affects him, the next person to him, the team and the entire organization.
“When you make assumption instead of communicating effectively, to the next person, you will fail.” She said.
She addressed the need to take care of oneself in order to be efficient at work. “It is important to know what your sources of energy are in order to avoid burn out.” She said. She went further to say one source of her energy is watching Netflix because it makes her relax when she is not working. So it is important for each staff to find his/her sources of energy that will help him/her relax, reflect, recognize, restore and renew.
She highlighted that beyond salary, some things motivate staff to work and the staff identified appraisals, promotions and commendation as some of these factors that motivated them showing they were being well catered for in CWC.
After sharing visualization forms which staffs were to fill anonymously, the resource speaker encouraged staff to measure their progress by setting a SMART goal. These goals must be measureable in order to attain success.
There was a virtual presentation from the Chief Executive Officer about upholding the core values of the organization.
